Multi-Line Triangulation
Where high density, high speed surface contour information is required, or the object to be measured has no or limited movement, 3D profile scanning can be accomplished by projecting multiple laser lines onto the surface. Much the same as single laser point triangulation can be expanded into multiple laser points, multiple laser lines can be projected to be measured by a single detector. This results in a more efficient system that is more cost effective that a group of 'single laser, single camera' systems.
Multiline sensors are used to obtain 3D profile maps of surfaces that are stationary, providing 3D profiles without the need to scan or move the object or sensor to obtain a complete surface profile map. Where parts are in motion, multiline sensors can provide higher data densities compared to single line sensors.
