Automotive Robotics
In this video clip, you will see a robot positioning an LMI Automotive 3D sensor to various locations within a door panel. At each measurement point, the sensor uses a laser in combination with a strobed red LED light to establish the XYZ points of key features, such as a hole position or edge. The measurements produced are converted to world coordinates and compared to CAD models to ensure manufacturing quality meets established tolerances. Robots and 3D sensors are critical components in the verification of automotive parts prior to full assembly.
