Overview

Quality Built for the Assembly Line, so the Assembly Line can Build Quality

LMI Technologies specializes in 3D sensors that produce fast throughput and high resolution inspection data to meet production and quality requirements for the automotive industry.

Packaged in a rugged industrial housing, LMI sensors are ideal for mounting in the assembly weld tools, in close proximity to weld guns. When sensors are mounted in the assembly line, they can operate in a continuous data-gathering mode to obtain data of actual part movements during the process. Since data acquisition is done automatically, results may be displayed in real time.

Our automotive applications division works closely with our System Integrators & Original Equipment Machine Suppliers to deliver solutions for dimensional quality inspection of automotive bodies and sub assemblies.

Applications

Developed for the Automotive Industry

LMI Technologies has solved many applications in automotive with a combination of rugged sensors and algorithms developed specifically for the automotive industries. Used by the OEMs and top tier automotive suppliers, and licenced to key Systems Integrators, the LMI Automotive products are helping maintain the quality of manufacture for in-line and robotic cells.

Applications:

Body in White.

Body Sides

Underbody

Frames

Doors, Hoods, Decklids

Gap & Flush

Door Header Correction

Application Examples

Robotic Door Inspection:

This is an example of using an ABB robot with integrated 3D sensors for door inspection.  Key features, such as holes and studs, are checked for presence.  LMI has the ability to not only check for presence with imaging but takes it a step further to measure feature location using a laser line.

Robotic Underbody Inspection:

The LMI sensors provide the ability for full multi-sensor inspection for the underbody.  Each sensor is calibrated to world coordinates.
