Overview

Integration Made Easy

Many industrial applications for 3D sensing involve mounting multiple sensors either end to end to inspect long parts, or around a circular object to provide data from a full 360 degree view. Interfacing data from multiple sensors to the host computer can be a complex task for the system integrator, requiring multiple interface points, communications and wiring from each sensor.

To simplify the system integrator's task when implementing DynaVision multi point or L series laser line sensors, LMI has developed a series of interfacing stations. These stations have inputs for connection of multiple 3D sensors, and other sensors such as encoders and photocells. Output of the stations is a single connection port to the host computer using industry standard Ethernet communications.

LX Station

Simplify Interfacing

The LX Station is designed to simplify interfacing all DynaVision L Series sensors. (L Series sensors are laser line based, and are frequently implemented to measure the 3D profiles of logs in lumber mills).

The LX Station takes inputs from up to 6 L Series sensors, and communicates sensor data to the host via a single Ethernet connection. The LX Station also has input for an encoder mounted on the conveyor line, and has an RS485 port for serial communications with the sensors.

Where more than six sensors are implemented for a specific application, multiple LX Stations can be implemented in a master/slave configuration

MB Station

Easily Interfaces DynaVision Multipoint Sensors

The MB Station is designed to interface DynaVision multipoint sensors. (These DynaVision sensors, which project multiple laser points from each sensor, are frequently implemented in saw mills to measure the 3D profiles of boards during the edging and trimming operations).

The MB Station takes inputs from up to 24 DynaVision multipoint sensors, and communicates sensor data to the host via a single Ethernet connection. The MB Station also has input for an encoder mounted on the conveyor line, and also has inputs for photocells.
